Scottish government pushes up tax rates


Finance secretary, Derek Mackay, announced a new tax band of 21p for those earning more than £24,000. The higher rate of tax will be increased from 40p to 41p and the top rate from 45p to 46p. So far, they have simply added the ten basis points back to keep the rates the same as in the United Kingdom although they made a minor change by not raising the threshold at which people start to pay the 40 per cent tax from April this year , as was the case in the rest of the UK. Bank of England holds key rate at 0.5% in unanimous vote

Big oil inventories in USA draw again

ADB revises upwards 2017 GDP to 5.8 per cent
