Assange was forcibly removed from the embassy last week by British police after Ecuador revoked his political asylum and was quickly found guilty by a British court of breaching his bail conditions related to allegations of rape he faced in Sweden in 2012.
Lenin Moreno told the Guardian newspaper that Ecuador's government had provided facilities within the embassy that allowed Assange to "interfere" with other states.
A photo of Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno lounging in bed with a giant platter of lobster in front of him may have spurred Julian Assange's eviction from the country's London embassy. More than 70 British legislators have urged Javid to give priority to a case involving rape allegations ahead of the USA request.
He faces up to 12 months in jail in the United Kingdom over breaking bail conditions., and possible extradition to the U.S. over WikiLeaks' release of sensitive USA military documents. The first expired in 2015 and the other was dropped in 2017, but the alleged rape victim has now asked for the case to be reopened.
He would not be expected to enter a plea to the Department of Justice case unless he loses his extradition case and is brought to a courtroom in the United States.
Robinson said Assange would seek assurances from Sweden that he would not be sent on to America, saying: "That is the same assurance we were seeking in 2010 and the refusal to give that is why he sought asylum".
One particularly controversial piece, consisting of gun camera footage leaked to Assange's organization by former US army soldier Chelsea Manning, appears to show US Apache gunships firing on civilians in Iraq in 2007.
He faces up to five years in jail.

Williamson spoke to Sputnik at the scene of a second day of protests outside London's Belmarsh Prison, which now houses Assange.
Separately, Robinson denied the Ecuadoran government's claims about her client's worsening behaviour inside the Latin American country's embassy in London.
Does Julian Assange have a case?
On Monday, two left-wing German lawmakers Heike Hansel and Sevim Dagdelen, and Spanish MEP, Ana Miranda, held a press conference outside Belmarsh calling on European states to offer him asylum and prevent his extradition to the U.S.
The conspiracy charge against Assange seems meant to sidestep limits on prosecution potentially arising from the US Constitution's First Amendment guarantee of press freedom.
In the Guardian interview, Moreno charged that Assange "mistreated our officials (and) started to make legal threats even against who was helping him".
Assange's relationship with his hosts collapsed after Ecuador accused him of leaking information about Moreno's personal life.
Assange's father, John Shipton, on Sunday urged Australia to bring his son home.
