By now, you're probably aware of the 40-some people, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who were charged Tuesday in the largest college admissions scam in the history of the United States, but some attention has moved to Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, who allegedly benefited from the scam. According to the released indictment Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team - despite the fact that they did not participate in crew - thereby facilitating their admission to USC". The university didn't mention any specific penalties, but did take note that numerous current students that may have been involved could have been minors during the scandal, which could change things. USC will "make informed, appropriate decisions once those reviews have been completed. Some of these individuals may have been minors at the time of their application process". Instead, they'll be immediately out of the running for admission.
"They are really great people", she said.
Gordon Caplan, who prosecutors say paid $75,000 previous year to have some of his daughter's wrong answers corrected on a college entrance exam, was placed on leave from his post as co-chairman of the global law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, the company said on Wednesday.
Lori Louhglin's daughter was celebrating spring break on a yacht owned by a USC board of trustees member the same day her mother was ensnared in a widespread college bribery case, according to a new report.
Loughlin, best known for her role on Full House (and Netflix's Fuller House revival), on Wednesday turned herself in to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in advance of a court hearing.
Judge refuses to lower R. Kelly's child support payments
Kelly was freed from Cook County Jail for the second time last week after an anonymous bailer posted $160,000 for his freedom. In the documentary, Joycelyn and Azriel's parents alleged their daughters are victims of the disgraced singer's brainwashing.
On Tuesday, Loughlin was among a list of 50 people who have been indicted as part of an alleged nationwide scheme, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in MA. Huffman's daughter reportedly ended up with a score of 1420, which was 400 points higher than what she got on the PSAT exam.
The same week she posted that video, she put up an apology response. Her next court appearance was set for March 29 in Boston. It seems that acting is not the only thing her parents helped her with. Prosecutors said those claims were false as neither of the Gianulli sisters is a member of the university's rowing team.
She even admitted that her father faked his way through college, saying, "He, like, built his whole entire brand and he wasn't actually, like - I don't know if I'm supposed to say this - ever enrolled in college".
The vlogger found herself in hot water before heading off to college. "I will never shop at Sephora again unless you drop this like a hot potato". He has pleaded guilty. The racketeering conspiracy case includes 33 parents, as well nine coaches from universities that include USC, UCLA, Yale, Stanford and Georgetown.
