Georgia rises in recruiting rankings after adding Anthony Edwards

13 February 2019

The Georgia commitment is a big win for head coach Tom Crean, who is looking to keep in-state players at home instead of rival schools.

Despite major pushes from Florida State, Kansas and Kentucky (among others), it's been widely reported in recent weeks that Georgia was the team to beat. Tom Crean is a great dude, and I believe in him coaching me and developing me. He says his decision was influenced by "everybody showing love" on his unofficial visit at a Georgia game.

Shooting guard Anthony Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia has made a decision to stay in his home state.

Edwards is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the incoming class of 2019.

He trails only Memphis center James Wiseman on the recruiting chart, but is still the top-rated shooting guard and the No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.

May to MPs: We need to hold our nerve on Brexit talks
May also told MPs she rejected a proposal put forward by the main opposition Labour party for Britain to join an EU customs union. She said May would bring her deal back to Parliament for a vote "as soon as the issue around the backstop has been sorted out".

Kentucky now has the ninth-ranked 2019 recruiting class in the 247Sports rankings.

In his first year of coaching the Bulldogs, Crean has deep ties to Wade, whom he coached while at Marquette from 2001-2003 and instructed Victor Oladipo at IN from 2010-2013.

Top-five senior Anthony Edwards announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday morning, becoming the Bulldogs' highest-ranked recruit in the ESPN recruiting era. Edwards, a blue chip prospect that is projected to go No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft according to, is vertically gifted at the 2 guard position with pro comparisons to James Harden.

Edwards, excited about the program's future, has high expectations.

Yet, the fact that Georgia was able to land Edwards and still didn't crack the top 10 national class rankings shows how top heavy it is now.
