Up to 11 inches (28 centimeters) of snow was reported in St. Louis. Between 3 and 6 inches (7 and 15 centimeters) is expected in the Washington area, including parts of northern and central Maryland, by Sunday.
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for Missouri, as well as IL and Indiana.
And in IN snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches are expected between midnight Friday and 7 a.m. Sunday in portions of central, south central, southeastern, southwestern and west central Indiana. "We're going to see a significant snow event for the mid-Atlantic to start the year for 2019". By Jan. 12, at least 11 inches had accumilated in the region, and it was still coming down.

St. Louis could get as much as a foot of snow by late Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

More heavy rain also will fall on the already-saturated South.
The University of Missouri men's basketball game at the University of SC was also canceled Saturday because of weather-related travel problems, the team tweeted.
