As US President Donald Trump answered questions from the press following his speech about Wednesday's midterm results, his turbulent relationship with some media outlets was evident.
It means the Trump presidency - which already had no free rein despite a Republican-led chamber - will face a significant challenge, setting the tone over the remaining two years.
Acosta pressed him on why he called the migrant caravan making its way from Central America to the US border an invasion. It's a group of migrants moving toward the border, ' Acosta, CNN's chief White House correspondent, said.
The White House is suspending the credentials of a CNN journalist hours after a testy exchange with US President Donald Trump. The incident followed an interaction between United States President Donald Trump and Acosta, where Trump called the reporter a "rude and bad person" after he asked him several questions during a post midterm election press conference.
"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said.
"The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is frightful", Trump said. The way you treat other people is awful. "You should not treat people that way".
"I came in here as a nice person wanting to answer questions, and I had people jumping out of their seats screaming questions at me", said Mr Trump, who talked for almost 90 minutes despite the run-ins with reporters.
Usyk tells Bellew: A little less conversation, a little more action
"As we've seen Bellew can counter-punch and he's got a dirty left hook, and if he can land that I think he'll do well". I rate Bellew highly, I rate all British boxers highly and they're all stepping up to the plate.
Trump told Acosta to "put down the mic" and a White House staffer tried to take the microphone from the CNN correspondent but he wouldn't give it up.
He then lampooned Acosta for the way in which he has questions White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in press briefings.
In a statement, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders called Acosta's behavior "absolutely unacceptable" and said his White House press pass would be suspended "until further notice".
"Honestly I think you should let me run the country and you can run CNN", he said in the press conference at the White House.
"To say that, what you said, is so insulting to me", he said.
Trump explained he wants immigrants to come to America, because its expanding economy needs the workers, but they need to come legally.
Trump made several references in his news conference to how he feels mistreated by the press.
'That's enough, ' Trump said pointing at Acosta, who kept trying to talk. "You aren't the best", Trump told Alexander.
