Spire head coach says LaMelo Ball can be the No. 1 pick

According to a report by SLAM, LaMelo Ball is returning to high school basketball. In doing so, he forfeited his amateur status making it so he would not be able to play college ball.

Ball, a 6-foot-7 point guard, left Chino Hills High School a year ago while ranked the No. 7 recruit in the class of 2019 to be homeschooled, then later joined his brother LiAngelo to play for a team in Lithuania.

Ball is eligible to play because Spire is a prep school. He'll be playing for the basketball program there this winter and is expected to make his debut on November 13 against national powerhouse La Lumiere in Indiana.

"In my opinion, LaMelo Ball can be the No. 1 pick in a year or two going to the Cleveland Cavaliers", Jermaine Jackson tells TMZ Sports.

"I'm excited to return to school and rejoin my class on the court for my senior year", Ball said, via Slam. He shared that to play in global competition has been a great experience.

"I thank my dad for the JBA Experience and playing overseas", LaMelo says of the move. I think it helped my development.

Whether the Ball Brothers' seeming return to their basketball senses pays the ultimate dividend - joining their oldest sibling Lonzo Ball on the Los Angeles Lakers - remains to be seen, but theirs continues to be a sporting story like no other. He averaged 40.0 points, 13.8 rebounds, 11.0 assists and 3.6 steals per game during the inaugural domestic JBA season last summer.

As a sophomore at Chino Hills, Ball averaged almost 27 points and 10 assists per game and famously authored a 92-point performance. He made headlines with a 92-point performance during a February 2017 game.
