DC Comics hires James Gunn after Disney fires him

10 October 2018

Gunn's witty, irreverent sensibility turned Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy from little-known minor characters into one Disney's most acclaimed and bankable franchises.

There is now no release date for Suicide Squad 2.

We don't want James Gunn near any DC movie, especially Suicide Squad 2.

In July, Disney fired Gunn after jokes involving rape and paedophilia he wrote years earlier on Twitter resurfaced.

Matthew Hayden fractures spine while surfing and admits
In 2000, his fishing boat sunk and he was forced to swim more than a kilometre with Andrew Symonds. Hayden played the last of his 103 Tests in 2009, finishing with 8,625 runs at 50.73.

Bautista has been a very vocal defender of Gunn since his removal from Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3.

As Gunn wrote the screenplays for both the first and second installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy films it'll be interesting to see what he brings to Marvel's rivals as he is considered to be a major steal from the company. Gunn could potentially use his proven talents in this very specific genre to creatively level up the franchise for D.C. and Warner Bros. When Warner Bros. greenlit Birds of Prey, the Cathy Yan-directed feature centered around Harley Quinn's girl gang, before giving Suicide Squad 2 the go-ahead, O'Connor reportedly "grew frustrated and fell off the project" to work on The Has-Been instead. Gunn's Suicide Squad could conceivably differ from Ayer's in terms of story alone, thereby employing numerous first film's same cast members and characters.

The news comes from The Wrap-according to the report, this proposed Suicide Squad movie will not be a direct sequel to David Ayers's 2016 Academy Award-winning attempt, but will rather be a "completely new take" on the property.

"I think it's an incredibly courageous and smart move by the studio", Ayer told a fan who asked whether he was upset by Warner's decision to essentially scrap much of what Ayer established in the first movie to give Gunn more creative freedom.
