Former world champion Amir "King" Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Samuel Vargas (29-4, 14 KOs) in a welterweight clash at the Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, England.
However, the British public, as well as Brook and Hearn, much prefer a huge stadium fight which would settle a long-running war of words between the Englishmen.
"Everything depends on the fight against Vargas and what type of fight it is", said Hearn.
"It has to happen next or it will never happen, so it's up to these guys".
"No disrespect to Amir, who is a great fighter and just outboxed me but I think Pacquiao stops him, no matter how old he is".
Both fights would gross an estimated £20 million, according to promoter Eddie Hearn, with Khan likely to earn nearer £12 million for the fight with Brook, with Las Vegas and the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, both options in December. Manny Pacquiao is who I want.

'There is a massive demands for me, but there is only one fighter over Kell Brook and that is Manny Pacquiao.
"I wanted to pick my shots but he kept coming so I didn't have to look for him". I want Manny Pacquiao. There were times in the fight when I could have pushed on him and probably knocked him out. "At the end of the day we're businessmen, and we do what makes financial sense". It was his first bout since May 2016 when he faced then WBC middleweight world titleholder Canelo Alvarez in an ill-advised 155-pound catchweight fight, where Alvarez put him to sleep with a brutal overhand right in six rounds.
In his second fight since returning to the ring after a two-year absence, Khan was knocked to the floor in the final seconds of the second round.
Vargas was forced back and back as the Colombian's determination to respond and meet Khan head on opened up further opportunities.
This is Khan's second bout since his 23-month break from the sport, and it was watched closely at ringside by Kell Brook, who remains keen on facing Khan and says he will drop down to the 147lbs welterweight division to secure a bout. Khan staggered backward but was saved by the bell once again.
