Trump visit: Lock him in the tower, chants army of protesters

14 July 2018

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May greets U.S. President Donald Trump at Chequers, Britain July 13, 2018.

"I think it's hilarious". Trump said: "The relationship between our two nations is indispensable to the cause of liberty, justice, and peace".

Trump told The Sun newspaper that May's plan for Brexit had probably killed off the chance of a U.S. "I actually told Theresa May how to do it, but she didn't listen to me". "And that is fine", he said. May of going soft on Brexit and argued that her strategy would keep the country too aligned with the EU. "As he said in his interview with The Sun she "is a very good person" and he 'never said anything bad about her.' He thought she was great on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation today and is a really terrific person".

The government published its blueprint on Thursday calling for closer trade ties with the European Union after it leaves the bloc next March.

Late past year, May herself criticized Trump for retweeting a message by a member of a British far-right group, and the speaker of parliament has said the president would not be welcome to address the chamber.

Even if his criticism of May were part of a negotiation strategy to achieve a better trade deal with the United Kingdom, as Brennan pointed out, that's not even on the table yet.

Mr Bannon told The Daily Telegraph that Mr Trump offered this advice to Mrs May, as well as advising her to be "brutal" and "tough".

Mr Trump's visit came as watchdog Scottish Natural Heritage found the Trump International Links has "partially destroyed" the specially protected site it was built on.

"If Liam Fox can play golf he should leg it to Scotland tonight - if he can't salvage a trade deal with the President then the white paper isn't worth salvaging", he said.

Greek news outlets reported the expulsions Wednesday, adding that two other Russian envoys were banned from entering Greece. The government was compelled to act after receiving evidence of "specific actions", the official said.

Addressing a joint press conference at the end of their bilateral talks at the prime minister's country residence, Chequers, Trump said, "She's a total professional".

In the wake of the interview, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders issued a statement that appeared aimed to smooth things over.

"The president likes and respects Prime Minister May very much", she said.

Trump and May watched a display of military special forces on Friday before their formal talks which were due to include Russian Federation, ahead of a summit in Finland on Monday between Trump and President Vladimir Putin.

Putin's government is accused by May's of unleashing a deadly nerve agent in the English city of Salisbury.

Tens of thousands of protesters lined the streets of London, Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol to protest the visit of the American president but it is thought there will be more as he jets north.

A big part of the protests against Trump is the aforementioned giant Trump Baby, a 20ft orange blimp depicting the world leader as a crying baby - something that's clearly hurt his feelings.

Melania Trump visited veterans on Friday at London's Royal Hospital Chelsea where she also met local school children, accompanied by May's husband Philip.
