Donald Trump describes Boris Johnson as future PM and attacks Sadiq Khan

14 July 2018

He told The Sun newspaper that May's plan would "probably kill the deal" as it would mean the USA "would be dealing with the European Union" instead of with the UK.

He and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to have tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle in the late afternoon. "I think he (Khan) has done a very bad job on terrorism", Trump told The Sun newspaper.

Dawn Butler, an lawmaker from the opposition Labour Party with responsibility for women and equalities, told TIME: "Theresa May has failed to be a critical friend to Trump. I think they agree with me on immigration", he told media from Brussels on Thursday.

A full apology, strictly speaking, would be Trump apologizing for saying the things he said to the Sun reporters.

Donald Trump has accused the United Kingdom media of "fake news" after The Sun Newspaper published an on-the-record interview in which the USA president criticised the prime minister's Brexit plans.

On Boris Johnson, the former Foreign Secretary who has been such a thorn in Mrs May's side, he said he was a "a very talented guy", adding: "I like him a lot".

British Prime Minister Theresa May sits with Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson as she holds the first Cabinet meeting of her new team inside 10 Downing Street, in London, on June 12, 2017. "I think it's fine".

"I cherish the special relationship with the U.S. and the many Americans who contribute to our city", posted Khan, London's first Muslim mayor.

Trump added that he wished the Sun newspaper put the "tremendous things" he said about May in its headline, but acknowledged, "That's one of those things".

'A great meeting': Trump wants North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to double defence spending
To Trump, and not only to him, we are being used, gouged, by rich nations we defend, while they skimp on their own defense. He said the allies had confirmed their intention to meet the goal of 2 per cent by 2024 and no more .

So, does that mean if we make him feel unwelcome in the United States, he won't stay here?

The president slammed Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, a city that has been the target of several terrorist attacks in recent years: "I look at cities in Europe, and I can be specific if you'd like. I would-I would actually say she probably went the opposite way".

LONDON ― An enormous blimp depicting President Donald Trump as a baby throwing a temper tantrum set sail over the city Friday morning. He also took aim again at Khan, saying: "I think allowing millions and millions of people to come into Europe is very, very sad. And, that Brexit is a very tough situation, that's a tough deal".

"The reason I felt it was going to happen was because of immigration".

In the interview, Trump was especially critical of May's handing of the UK's upcoming exit from the European Union.

During the hour-long press conference, Trump went out of his way to praise May, and admitted he had apologised to her for The Sun's front page today. "Of course that's coming from NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN", he said, adding that her question was "dishonest reporting".

He maintained that border security is a national security problem and that "they have to stop terrorists crossing borders".

The man behind the balloon said the juvenility of his idea was a match for the juvenility of the president.

He said he hoped maybe one day she will follow it.
