Hearthstone’s latest expansion, The Boomsday Project, is all about mechs

13 July 2018

Blizzard Entertainment announced Hearthstone's next expansion this morning: The Boomsday Project. A new keyword, Magnetic, is also being introduced, allowing players to merge mech minions to combine their stats and abilities.

The final, most crazy addition has to be the inclusion of Legendary spells with some insane powers. Still, you'll be cursing it on release day when a Rogue manages to burn their entire deck but still draw Leeroy and 2x Cold Blood for a Turn 6 lethal.

A few other cards were shown, including a Shaman minion which doubles the effect of the next spell you'll play, and will unfortunately slot quite well into the hated Shudderwock deck. Some classes like Mage have been able to gain a Legendary spell through the Un'Goro quests, but for the most part this is the first time Legendary spells have been added to the game.

Now, about those keywords. Though I very much enjoyed Kobolds & Catacomb's Dungeon Run and The Witchwood's Monster Hunt modes, The Puzzle Lab sounds like an ingenious change of pace, and I'm stoked to see just how complicated these brain-teasers can get. "To fuse, play the magnetic minion to the LEFT of the minion you want to fuse with", as Blizzard explains.

But just before take-off, Mr Trump insisted Britons "like me a lot" and "agree with me on immigration". The Sun , Britain's biggest-selling newspaper, said there had been "blunder after blunder" by May.

So far, only one minion with Magnetic has been revealed - Spider Bomb for Hunter. There are also Projects, which provide bonuses to both players, and Omega cards, which offer powerful bonuses when played at 10 mana. "Projects are spells that provide a bonus to both players when played", Blizzard says.

New card types and keywords are being added to Hearthstone through its next expansion, which has a central focus around Mechs. Get ready to bring on the mechs (and your wallet) when it's launched August 7. If it's anything like other card game puzzle modes, players will likely be faced with specific, set scenarios and have to figure out how to use the cards available to them to accomplish some goal.

Furthermore, the campaign will let players play as the intern to Dr. Boom in The Puzzle Lab which, as the name implies, features puzzles rather than dungeons. That expansion is The Boomsday Project. The 50 pack bundle will include a free random golden class Legendary and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back, while the 80 card pack will include a free golden class Legendary and Mecha-Jaraxxus card back, as well as a new playable Warlock Hero-Mecha-Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the scientific community. The first includes 50 packs, a random Golden Legendary card from The Boomsday Project, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back.
