After nine garlanded years, Cristiano Ronaldo has left Real Madrid for Juventus.
In Real Madrid's statement on the website, they said: "Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of the greatest symbols of the club and a unique reference for the next generation".
"I can only give enormous thanks to this club, these fans and this city".
"But I think the time has come to start a new phase in my life and that is why I have asked the club to accept my transfer. I ask everyone, and especially our followers, to understand that." he added.
He won four Champions League titles at Madrid and two league championships as well as two Spanish Cups and three Fifa Club World Cups.
Ronaldo has regularly been linked with a move away from Madrid, but speculation has intensified in the wake of comments he made after the team's Champions League final win over Liverpool in May.
The five-time Ballon d'Or victor has been Real for nine seasons after joining from Manchester United for a then world-record fee of £80m. Expect some very heavy rumours in the coming days and weeks with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Eden Hazard and, whisper it.Harry Kane.
Final Rescue Mission For Trapped Thai Boys' Football Team Is Underway
Yesterday, rescue planners brought all five remaining members of the stranded survivors out in less than nine hours. Rescuers need to hold the boys' oxygen tanks in front of them and swim pencil-like through submerged holes.
"I have reflected a lot and I know that the time has come for change".
However, details about transfer fees were still unclear with Gazetta citing 120 million euros ($140.5 million) and the Corriere putting the deal at between 130 and 150 million euros. One is buying a short-term option like Robert Lewandwoski, whose record at bayern Munich suggests he should be able to make a good portion of Ronaldo's goals. The Brazilian, who scored two goals for his country at this summer's World Cup, was linked with Madrid in January but played down speculation, claiming he was happy at the French club.
Earlier, Real Madrid had omitted Ronaldo from their new kit campaign.
"Beyond the (titles), the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement". They will hope that bringing a player who has lifted the trophy an unprecedented five times will heighten their chances of finally conquering Europe, and at the soonest.
Juventus have reached the Champions League final twice in the last four years and lost both.
Ronaldo was taking time off following Portugal's 2018 World Cup campaign in Russian Federation - which ended in the round of 16 with a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay - after which he can join Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and the rest of the squad for preseason training. The 17 goals he scored as Real beat local rivals Atletico to the 2014 title remains a single-season record.
The Bianconeri can feel emboldened about their chances of winning the Champions League for the first time since 1996 with Real's all-time leading goalscorer officially on the books.
