Pokémon GO celebrates 2nd anniversary w/ additional Pikachu & Pichu appearances, more

08 July 2018

It's nearly hard to believe that it has been two years since that fateful turn of events and Pokemon GO is now celebrating its birthday with an abundance of the Pokemon that really started it all: Pikachu. Players can also now hatch Summer Style Pichu from eggs and evolve a Summer Style Pikachu into a Summer Style Raichu.

Pokémon GO will turn two years old tomorrow, July 6th. Like the various hat-wearing Pikachu that were available during certain in-game events, this Pikachu only differs in appearance, sporting a straw hat and sunglasses.

As of press time, players have not discovered a Shiny variant of the Summer Style Pikachu, so it doesn't appear that it's possible to get a Shiny variant at this time.

The death toll rose to 41 on Saturday, with 15 still missing, according to the Phuket province public relations department. Phuket officials had earlier issued a warning of severe weather until Tuesday, including heavy rain and winds.

At long last, numerous most highly anticipated features for Pokemon Go are finally becoming a reality.

If that's not enough Pikachu for you, a selection of Pikachu Fan Avatar items will be available in the store.

First off, Niantic says that Pikachu and Pichu will appear more frequently in the application. On top of that, Pikachu Fan Avatar items will be available for purchase. To celebrate the game's second birthday, Niantic is letting Pikachu in on the sunglasses fun alongside our boy Squirtle. The developer hasn't announced when the Celebi Special Research quest will kick off, only noting that it will be available "in the near future".
