Apple Maps is down, 'all users' affected

The Apple directions app has been down since 9:55 a.m., according to Down Detector.

The message "Directions not available-route information is not available at this moment" appears when searching for directions, and searching for specific places like "Penn Station" or "JFK Airport" yields a "No results found" message. "We are investigating this issue", explains Apple.

Unfortunately, Apple has only just announced its CarPlay platform would open up to third-party navigation and mapping apps with the release of iOS 12 - but that hasn't yet come to pass.

Additionally, Maps has benefited from being the sole source of directions when users ask for assistance from Siri, enabling an in-car voice request for driving guidance to nearby businesses or locations to automatically start providing spoken and visual directions.
