It's a 6.6-inch (18:9) AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels.
On the back, the Vivo Nex features a dual camera setup comprising a 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5MP f/2.4 shooter that helps provide depth information. Also, other sensors including proximity sensor are hidden beneath the edge-to-edge display. To further reduce the bezels, NEX adopts Vivo's 3rd generation In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology that has improved in both accuracy and speed, following its successes with the X20UD and X21.
The highlight of the new phone lies in the narrow bezels surrounding the display, which was made possible after Vivo came up with a rather unique solution to do away with the display notch. The phone is also set to launch in both black and red colors.
Without a notch, Vivo had to make several engineering upgrades to allow users to receive calls and take selfies, since neither a speaker or camera are on the front of the phone.
The Vivo Nex also comes with in-display fingerprint reading abilities, which is hardly surprising considering that Vivo released the first phone with a sensor built into the screen only a few months ago. The model with a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage will cost Yuan 4,498 (or approx Rs 47,398).

Vivo NEX will be out in China soon. For one, the 8MP f/2.0 front camera is placed onto an elevating mechanism that pops up when needed; sounds reverbates through the screen itself thanks to Vivo's so-called Screen SoundCasting Technology, which is most probably utilizing a piezoelectric technology at its core, similarly to what Xiaomi did with the first Mi Mix but later backtracked.
Vivo is touting the AI capabilities of the NEX, with the phone offering AI-assisted scene recognition, HDR, filters, and photo composition. They also pack 4000mAh battery with fast charging support.
So where did the speaker, the front camera and the fingerprint scanner go? That includes having a dedicated Jovi button.
The Vivo Game Engine is available on the Vivo NEX to deliver an immersive gaming experience through hardware and software optimization. The standard Vivo Nex comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage and is priced at RMB 3,898 (around Rs 41,050).
