England have been badly in need of a pick-me-up and if the reptilian extravaganza helps restore morale ahead of the series-shaping second Test in Bloemfontein on Saturday then it will have achieved its objective.

Brits, who was in South Africa on holiday and was at the first Test as a fan, retired after Saracens' Premiership final victory over Exeter but has unexpectedly been called up by Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus.

South Africa came from 21 points down to defeat England 42-39 in a thrilling first Test at Ellis Park on Saturday.

"Last week wasn't the start we wanted and this wasn't the home start we wanted".

"We all took charge and told the guys to calm down".

TV is Eddie's call", Finkel said. "All they have to do is tell us where to be and when to be there, and we'll be there". Wilder's team hope to have the contracts for the fight in the next 48 hours as the deal edges closer .

"The frustration, for me, of not getting it quite right means that I just want to rip into it this week and if it was up to me we would be playing again tomorrow. So hopefully we can build on why the first 20 minutes that was so good". Looking back, we probably got out of jail free today, but just as they could have put us away, we could have put them away.

"We knew that wasn't what we worked on during the week".

"There were a lot of individual errors that led to the ill-discipline, so first up we've got to be honest with ourselves, brutally honest at times, and hopefully that will lead to coaches not having to say too much".

The Springboks team to face England in the second Test at Toyota Stadium will be named on Thursday.

The new World Rugby rankings have been released and it's not good news for England.
