Kim: North Korean Leader Says Summit Like Being in a Sci-Fi Movie

12 June 2018

President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are set for a historic summit on Tuesday, June 12.

As U.S. President Trump preps for a historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Twitter doesn't want you to forget to tweet about it under the right hashtag.

If the joint statement does lead to a lasting detente, it could fundamentally change the security landscape of Northeast Asia, just as former US President Richard Nixon's visit to Beijing in 1972 led to the transformation of China.

Earlier, before a row of alternating United States and North Korean flags, the leaders shared a warm 13-second handshake at a Singapore island resort, creating an indelible image of two unorthodox leaders as they opened a conversation that could determine historic peace or raise the specter of a growing nuclear threat.

The two men strode toward each other and shared the momentous handshake beneath the white-washed walls of an upscale hotel in neutral Singapore, before sitting down for a half-day of meetings with major ramifications for the world. As the site for their meeting, the two leaders have chosen one of Singapore's most luxurious hotels, the Capella Resort on Sentosa Island, a popular vacation spot off the southern tip of Singapore and home to Universal Studios Singapore.

Speaking through his translator, Mr Kim said it was "not easy" to get here.

Trump did most of the talking, and the North Korean leader appeared to listen attentively, turning to him three times during their walk toward their meeting room.

They met one on one for about 40 minutes, had an expanded meeting joined by a few aides, and concluded their morning activities with a working lunch. I thought I was going to play basketball and meet the people and that was it.

"And if we're not willing to do that, we're not going to get a good deal", Graham said, complementing the global community - including China and Russian Federation - for standing behind Trump in regards to sanctions on North Korea. Top of the line, very good.

Is IHOP changing its name?
Just as many speculated on social media about the name change, Twitter has been quick to react to the great reveal. To learn more about the company's pivot in menu, we got in touch with IHOP's spokesperson, Stephanie Peterson.

Kim also sounded positive about the prospects.

In advance of their private session, Trump predicted "tremendous success" while Kim said through an interpreter that "we have come here after overcoming" obstacles.

The U.S. side included Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Adviser John Bolton and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. I've met him. And this is, this has started early and it's been very intense.

He said the details about the site being destroyed were not included in the joint declaration the leaders signed after almost five hours of talks because they agreed to it after the document was signed.

Officials of the two sides held last-minute talks to lay the groundwork for the summit of the old foes, an event nearly unthinkable just months ago, when they were exchanging insults and threats that raised fears of war.

North Korea has previously said it was willing to discuss denuclearization, but experts have expressed concern over the varying definitions of the term held by Washington and Pyongyang.

"Yes, Donald Trump reached out", Rodman said, telling Cuomo he'd received a call from a person he described as Trump's secretary.

When asked if there was a discussion of pulling the roughly 28,000 United States troops out of South Korea, Trump said the topic never came up.
