According to TMZ, the star had "a known health condition" relating to his heart and there will be no autopsy carried out. He had heart failure, kidney failure and liver problems, the coroner said.

Boyd was just 42 years old. "It was my mom who really kept the family together".

Boyd captivated audiences with his booming voice and quickly became a fan-favorite while competing on America's Got Talent back in 2008. The singer was reportedly at his mother's home at the time.

Boyd was set to release his third album in 2019 inspired by a tragic vehicle accident in 2017 that left him and his mother severely injured. "I shattered a lot of bones, and shattered my hip, which has left me nearly unable to use that leg for now", Boyd told the Southeast Missourian in February.
