Stranger Things is getting a prequel tie-in novel

10 June 2018

Penguin Random House and its Del Rey Books are teaming up with Netflix to publish new books about the series, according to a tweet from the publisher on Friday.

A prequel novel about Eleven's mom and the MKUltra program along with other stories will arrive in early 2019.

A new Stranger Things book series is on the way. The aptly-named Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion and an as-yet-untitled gift book offering advice, wisdom and warnings from the Stranger Things world for younger readers will arrive this fall, we're told.

The first two titles, due out this fall, will be a behind-the-scenes companion volume and a hardcover gift book intended for younger readers. According to Deadline, the show is now being fixed to be turned into a book that will come out this Fall. Both books will be released in 2018. Audiobook editions of the books will be available as well.

It's smart to do novel tie-ins with Stranger Things, which is shaping up to be Netflix's biggest crossover hit ever. Popular with genre and non-genre fans alike, Stranger Things hits that sweet spot of nostalgia and rosy child action/adventure stories.

The third season of Stranger Things officially kicked-off production in April, with Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink all returning.
