UFC 225: Australia's Robert Whittaker primed for Yoel Romero fight

09 June 2018

During the UFC 225 weigh-in show on FOX Sports 2, Bisping put the title contender on blast for missing weight yet again.

Robert Whittaker is prepared to go to the depths of exhaustion to overcome Yoel Romero once more and stamp his authority on the UFC middleweight championship.

Romero was the only fighter on the card to miss weight, his second fight in a row as he also missed weight prior to the interim title fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221.

But Whittaker has agreed to save the main event and face him in a non-title bout. As a result of that, Rockhold could only win the interim title if he won the fight.

White addressed a number of other topics, including the possibility of former welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre dropping down to lightweight to either challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title or face Conor McGregor in a blockbuster bout.

Trump Wants Russia Back In The G-7
Trump's comment on Twitter sets the stage for what could be an uncomfortable confrontation over economic policy on Friday. A senior Government source said: "The PM has always said we should engage with Russian Federation but beware".

The path to UFC 225 has been winding, to say the least. It would make me upset if my opponent missed weight because I believe making weight is half the job; if you don't make 84.5 [kilos, 186lbs] then we're not in the same weight division.

Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting is reporting that Whittaker is still up for the contest, while Romero's team still has yet to make a decision.

As well, former WWE superstar CM Punk makes his first octagon appearance in nearly two years as he takes on fellow welterweight Mike Jackson as a plus-175 underdog, while Holly Holm vies for a second win in six fights as she takes on Megan Anderson as a minus-225 favourite in a clash of women's featherweights. "Why would I? I might as well fight someone heavier than me".

Gold Coast fighter Megan Anderson makes her debut against Holly Holm, a former champion best known for knocking out Ronda Rousey in Melbourne in 2015.
