22 May 2018

The suspects, considered armed and risky, were still at large Monday evening and police were combing the Baltimore suburb of Perry Hall, where three elementary schools were under lockdown, said Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan.

Police spokeswoman Julia Hardgrove said the officer had been investigating a suspicious vehicle on Linwen Way in the community of Perry Hall. Councilman David Marks confirmed via Twitter the officer was shot but said he had no further details on the incident.

The officer, who would have been a four-year veteran in July, was taken to a nearby hospital. She was rushed to Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, where she died at 2:50 p.m., officials said.

Governor Larry Hogan offered his condolences to the Baltimore County Police Department and also offered up the help of the Maryland State Police as police continue to look for the suspects.

"Our officer responded to this call, and she encountered at least one suspect and was critically injured in this altercation with this suspect", said Cpl. Police said Monday evening that they had recovered a Jeep believed to be connected to the incident.

"The next thing he heard was a pop, and he saw the Jeep take off and run right over her", he said.

According to the Sun account, the witness told his father that he saw the officer draw her gun on a vehicle and order the occupants out.

A police officer was shot in Baltimore today (May 21) at around 2pm EST.

The FA Cup victory provided a great day out for the Blues fans and a chance to get one over on Jose Mourinho's Manchester United . If the price suits us, we wouldn't be surprised to see Willian donning their red strip come the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

Kurek said his other son, who is a volunteer firefighter, performed CPR on the officer and they called 911.

Vinson said he could not confirm her injuries or cause of death, and said that probably won't happen until an autopsy has been performed.

Now they have lost an officer - the 11th to die in the line of duty in the county since 1932.

Police tweeted that residents in the area of Belair and Klausmeier roads should shelter in place as officers search for an armed suspect.

Kurek's neighbor, Dahle Amendt, said he had just settled into his recliner for a rest when he heard a woman's voice outside his house. Motorists were advised to avoid Belair road between Forge Road and Ebenezer Road.

Hogan says "we're deeply saddened" that the "brave officer" was shot in the line of duty. He said he had no information about whether she had fired her own weapon. An unmarked vehicle with law enforcers, including one officer cradling a rifle in the back seat, drove past and was waved through by police manning the intersection.

Vinson advised parents to contact school administrators for instructions on how to pick up their children.

The AP writes that students still at the school Monday evening were being served dinner, according to Julie Henn, a member of the Baltimore County Board of Education.
