Bolton: US Could Sanction European Companies Doing Business With Iran

"Our meetings will continue during the upcoming two weeks".

State news agency IRNA confirmed Zarif departed in the early hours of Sunday morning. "We're not there, we're beginning the process", Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters after meeting his French, British and German counterparts in Brussels.

A Professor of International Relations, Ogba Oche, has said that President Donald Trump's recent withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal was an indication that he would soon withdraw from other agreements. The others are Iran, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

Before leaving, Zarif published a government statement on his Twitter page, slamming the "extremist administration" of Trump for abandoning "an accord recognised as a victory of diplomacy by the worldwide community".

Saving the deal is going to rest heavily on ensuring these nations can combine efforts to block U.S. sanctions from preventing global companies doing business in Iran.

Second, the argument that since the provisions of the JCPOA will become less strict over the years enabling Iran to move towards nuclear-weapon capability is not a credible rationale for undoing the deal.

Israeli airstrikes struck Iranian military installations inside Syria on Thursday - its biggest coordinated assault on Syria since the 1973 Mideast war - in retaliation for an Iranian rocket barrage on Israeli positions in the occupied Golan Heights.

The global non-proliferation regime has taken a direct hit from the U.S.'s decision to renege on the Iran deal.

The U.S. Treasury announced on Tuesday more sanctions on officials of the Iranian central bank, including Governor Valiollah Seif, for allegedly moving millions of dollars on behalf of the country's Revolutionary Guards Corps to Lebanon's Shi'ite Hezbollah group.

The White House backed Israel's claims, accusing Iran of "reckless actions" that posed a "severe threat" to stability in the Middle East.

"We planned a budget plan based on different conditions, and we will not have problems in the new", he said.

It's true that European powers tried to save the JCPOA by proposing a package that addressed Trump's concerns about the agreement.

France and other western allies have been critical of Washington's plan to reimpose sanctions on any companies doing business with Iran.

Macron and Trump spoke by phone on Saturday, with the USA president urging "the need for a comprehensive deal that addresses all aspects of Iran's destabilizing activities in the Middle East", according to a White House readout of the call.

"Officials shouldn't trust France and Britain". They long opposed the pact on the grounds the USA couldn't be trusted. Though interpreted by the Supreme Leader Khamenei as death to "policies and arrogance" the curses were thrown out to inflame Iranian public opinion. However, proponents of the deal have said those time limits were meant to encourage more discussion with Iran in the future.

German exports to Iran totaled almost €3 billion in 2017, while French exports soared from €562 million in 2015 to €1.5 billion in 2017 and oil giant Total has pledged to invest some $5 billion in the South Pars gas field.

Trump weighed in later Sunday, saying his decision would limit Iran's regional ambitions.

"The removal of sanctions under the deal has already produced disastrous results", he said. To be sure, the least affected will be the U.S.; European Union countries will be moderately affected due to the business ties with Iran; and the most affected will be countries closer to the region, in particular India.
