Guillermo del Toro Set to Bring Horror Anthology Series to Netflix

As Deadline documented, Netflix issued a press release regarding the horror series, and it will be del Toro's personally curated stories.

Guillermo will serve as executive producer on the series as well as a writer and director on select episodes. Or produce a horror anthology series for Netflix? I suspect this will be pitched at a slightly older audience, though.

Del Toro already has animated series Trollhunters on Netflix, with the DreamWorks Animation show set to return for the third and final season of its first chapter on May 25. Miles Dale, the Toronto-born producer who previously worked with him on his Academy Award-winning film The Shape of Water.

Anyone familiar with "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" probably has an idea about what to expect form del Toro's new Netflix anthology. By the way, this isn't Del Toro's first foray into TV.

Del Toro's The Shape of Water, which earned four Oscars this year, including Best Picture, Best Director for del Toro, Best Original Score and Best Production Design. He'll also hand-pick a team of what Netflix describes as the genre's best writers and new filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life.

We don't have a release date or an episode count for 10 After Midnight just yet, but it will hopefully arrive sometime in the next year or so.

The director also recently found financiers for his feature-length adaptation ofScary Stories to Tell in the Dark, thepopular children's horror book series.

It's worth noting that del Toro has a home in Toronto and frequently works on films there.
