"I think that we need to respect and support our law enforcement officers like those we saw working so effectively during the Austin bombings". We are happy to say that through bipartisan legislative efforts, our members are now referred to as State Correctional Police Officers.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is the nation's monument to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

On average, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, one officer is killed somewhere in the United States every 58 hours.

As President of PBA Local 105 - the, representing over 6,000 active Correctional Police Officers, Juvenile Justice Commission and Parole Officers - I am honored and humbled by the work of our courageous men and women in all areas of law enforcement throughout the nation. There is no bigger crisis in LE than when an officer dies in the line of duty.

Law enforcement all across the state were honored for their service Friday and that includes the local officers of the Interior.

The most recent officer honored, Sgt. Joseph Cox, 48, a 19-year sheriff's department veteran, died February 12, 2017. The deaths of the other 231 officers were not known previously. So he and his wife Lora created this service. And the ones that were killed in the line of duty and lost in the line of duty, they gave their lives for us as citizens.

Jason Weiland are heading to Washington D.C. today for a ceremony being held as Weiland's name is going to be added to the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial on Saturday. So that people across the country can experience this ceremony, the vigil will be livestreamed beginning at 8 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
