Donald Glover to Host & Perform on 'Saturday Night Live'

17 April 2018

Donald Glover will host Saturday Night Live on May 5, the show announced on Saturday. News of the upcoming hosting gig was revealed during last night's (April 14) John Mulaney-hosted episode of SNL.

Perhaps the episode will give his actor half a chance to finally perform part of that Deadpool script (available here) that got axed in his fall-out with Marvel over the now-defunct animated series?

Inevitably, people online began making jokes about how Donald Glover will doing both host and musical guest roles. Lately, he's demonstrated his range and versatility as the star and creator of Atlanta.

The country was second to the USA for 1994, behind France for 1998 and just lost out to South Africa for the 2010 finals. The four countries involved in the bidding are not allowed to vote along with Guatemala, which is now suspended.

The relatively short list of other performers who have pulled double duty as host and guests includes Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Blake Shelton, and Ariana Grande. He will also serve as musical guest under his stage name Childish Gambino.

Glover holds a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his leading role on FX's Atlanta, which he also created.
