Woolworths hit by nationwide technical outage

16 April 2018

Several media outlets have reported that the outage was Australia-wide, and affected all stores, though Woolworths are yet to make a comment.

A national technical outage brought sales to a standstill at the busy Mackay city store this afternoon.

A woman named Rose, from Hoppers Crossing in Melbourne, told 3AW customers were offered lollies as they were asked to leave.

News Corp Australia counted at least ten abandoned trolleys and baskets in the store.

More than 20 shoppers were reportedly turned away by the security guard.

Soon after the blast on May 18, 2007, five more people were killed in subsequent police firing as cops tried to control a mob. The NIA said they will examine the court judgment after they get a copy of the same and decide further course of action.

As of 4:50pm AEST, a Woolworths spokesperson has confirmed that services have returned to normal.

A Woolworths spokeswoman said the registers were coming back online now.

"The registers are now back online in all our stores", the company said.

Registers temporarily shut down at a number of Woolworths stores across the nation due to a major technical outage this afternoon.

The supermarket giant has not yet revealed the cause of the outage. "We apologise for the inconvenience this caused our customers".
