The judge also heard a request from Michael Avenatti, Daniels' lawyer, to weigh in on the files because they likely involved her, and the judge consented.
Trump's longtime lawyer Michael Cohen secretly recorded his conversations with Stormy Daniel's former lawyer Keith Davidson, according to a new report from CNN- and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has now reportedly seized those recordings.
Cohen is due to appear in federal court on Monday in connection with a raid this week on his NY office and home by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation that was based in part on a referral from Mueller. His lawyer didn't immediately return a request for comment Sunday.
Following the hearing Friday, the judge ordered the parties to return to court Monday for another hearing, where Cohen will have to be present.
The filing, signed by acting U.S. Attorney Robert Khuzami in the Southern District of NY, also says that while the current investigation was referred by special counsel Robert Mueller, the NY investigation "has proceeded independent" of Mueller's work.

Trump was surprised by and tweeted angrily about the Cohen raid, and disparaged top Department of Justice officials during a press conference and in tweets in response. Cohen's lawyer is asking for the lawyers themselves to review the material or a "special master" to decide what is relevant to the case, and Hendon is concerned about a taint team or however the material is handled.
"It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his client", attorney Stephen Ryan said in the statement.
Essential Consultants LLC was used for the partial payment of a $250,000 fee paid to Cohen for negotiating a non-disclosure agreement with a former Playboy model who claimed she was impregnated by Elliott Broidy, a venture capitalist and former deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Despite claiming he used his own money to silence Daniels, a former chairman of the Federal Election Commission told "60 Minutes" that Cohen's payments could be considered an "in kind contribution" well-above what he is legally allowed to give to the campaign.
