16 April 2018

Authorities say a woman who drove off a California cliff last month in an SUV carrying her wife and children was drunk. On their return on April 5, they spoke of plans to stop and visit relatives in San Jose the following day, the San Jose Police Department said in a statement. California drivers are considered drunk with a level of.08 or higher.

Mendocino County Sheriff Thomas Allman told a news conference that the body was found along the bank of Eel River about seven miles south of the spot where, the police suspect their auto went missing.

The auto has not been located, and the police said the search would continue for the vehicle and its occupants. Carpenter said "a lot about this case is unusual ... baffling nearly".

Just weeks after the Hart family perished in a fatal plunge from an ocean overlook along the Pacific Coast Highway in Northern California, rescuers were searching for another family feared to have driven into water in the same county. He is survived by wife, Holly; and two daughters, Megan (Tim), and Jordan; and granddaughter, Journey; grandson, Landon; sister, Doris; brother, Monroe (Kathy); nieces and nephews, Brian, Mark (Cindy), Clay (Sue), Tracey, Randolph (Donna), Scott (Leslie), Jennifer (David), Brian; many great-nieces and nephews, and friends.

The 100-foot (31-meter) drop killed the women, both 39, and their children Markis Hart, 19; Jeremiah Hart, 14; and Abigail Hart, 14.

The Harts moved to a home in Woodland, Washington, in mid-2017, neighbors said.

Long before the crash, Sarah Hart pleaded guilty in 2011 to a domestic assault charge in Minnesota over what she said was a spanking given to one of her children. Alexandra Argyropoulos, who told The Associated Press previously that she contacted OR child welfare officials, said in an email Friday that Jennifer Hart ran the household "like a regimented boot camp".

The family of four - two parents and two children - was traveling from Portland, Oregon, to their home in Santa Clarita, California, last week when they stopped communicating with relatives.

Nugent said firefighters rescued one person inside the building. She says the six kids were regularly punished for common childlike and adolescent behavior, such as laughing too loudly. Bruce Carpenter said Friday that toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of.102.
