Kathua rape-and-murder case: Alleged conspirators family wants CBI probe

16 April 2018

UN SECRETARY-GENERAL Antonio Guterres wants Indian authorities to ensure that the perpetrators of the "horrific" gangrape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua be brought to justice. "Rage over the agenda of division and hate your party and its innumerable offshoots have insidiously introduced into the grammar of our politics, our social and cultural life and even our daily discourse", they said in the letter.

One of the minister of the rightwing BJP, Minister for Forest, Choudhary Lal Singh has said that he attended the rally on party's instructions.

A lawyer fighting for justice to Kathua rape and murder victim on Saturday alleged he had been attacked by goons in Udhampur town.

"We feel that those two had the biggest role in the rape and murder of Asifa". Her body was found in the same area a week later.

While a minor was raped in Unnao and her subsequent pleas for an FIR allegedly ignored by state police because a BJP MLA was reportedly involved, an eight-year-old girl in Kathua was first kidnapped, then sedated, raped and murdered. Echoing these views, veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini taking to Twitter, said, "Daily newspaper reports of rape happening in every part of our country!"

Trump Again Calls Comey A 'Slimeball'
In a remarkable look back, Comey says he was deciding "in an environment where Hillary Clinton was sure to be the next president". Trump renewed his attacks on Comey on Sunday morning, calling him a " Slimeball " and accusing him of " many lies ".

The decision of the BJP leadership to ask two of its ministers in the Jammu & Kashmir government to quit was meant to cool tensions with partner PDP and prevent the coalition from collapsing over the controversial issue of ministers allegedly supporting the accused in the Kathua rape and murder case.

A top PDP leader told IANS after the meeting ended: "We also appeal the nation across political affiliations to own Kashmir as they have done in this case".

Earlier, while talking to News18, referring to rape cases in India, Asha Devi said, "We have a weak judicial system. I myself haven't visited my son", said Khajuria's mother, Darshana Devi.

Jammu has been on tenterhooks since the brutal rape and killing of the girl belonging to the nomadic Muslim Bakerwal community.

"The directive.must be withdrawn", Madav said while replying to a question about the demographic changes in Jammu due to settlement of Rohingya refugees and Tribals on encroached state lands in Jammu city, which are two major concerns of minority Dogras of Jammu. "We had to bury her in Badinal village, about 3 kms from here", he said. "As a society and as a country we should feel ashamed".
