India set to play Day-Night test match against West Indies

The West Indies Cricket Board has told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that it's ready to play a day/night Test provided the team gets a three-day practice match under lights.

Keeping an eye on the 2019 World Cup, India have chose to play as many limited-overs matches and that's why will they will host Australia for five ODIs and two T20Is in February and March.

"The Committee (CoA) considered the proposal of converting one of the two Test matches into a day-night match and considered the view of all stakeholders and the view was unanimous favouring this experiment", Chaudhary said.

This season, the home internationals will start with the inaugural one-off Test against Afghanistan in Bangalore from June 14 to 18. The venues were also decided on Saturday for the tour.

Mumbai, Guwahati, Kochi, Indore, and Pune are the selected venues against the Caribbean while, the T20Is will be played at Kolkata, Chennai, and Kanpur. Upon their return from England, India will play two Tests against Windies, in Hyderabad and Rajkot, as well as five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals before embarking for Australia for a Test series.

The CoA was unhappy that acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary had explored had discussed the possibility of playing a day-night Test with Ravi Shastri even as the head coach was not averse to the idea. The Kolkata T20 will held on November 4 but dates for other matches are yet to be known.

Revealing the schedule of home series against Australia, Choudhary said that India would play five ODIs and two T20Is games against the Steve Smith-led side.

Then, the Aussies will come for five ODIs and two T20 internationals in February-March next year.

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri is in Dubai for a strategic group meeting of International Cricket Council (ICC) while acting president C.K. Khanna didn't attend due to personal reasons. The venues for ODI?s are Mohali, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Delhi, and Ranchi.The dates respectively are 24th, 27th of February and 2nd, 5th and 8th of March.

The two T20Is will be held in Bangalore (March 10) and Visakhapatnam (March 13).
