Tite turns to new faces in latest Brazil squad

13 March 2018

Brazil coach Tite has announced his squad for March friendlies against Russian Federation and Germany.

Expectedly, team talisman Neymar is missing as he recovers from a broken foot, but the team still reeks of star quality with Philippe Coutinho, Marcelo, Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus, Casemiro, Willian and Ederson set to face Russian Federation in Moscow on March 23 and Germany in Berlin four days later.

This will be Brazil's first meeting with Germany after their disastrous 7-1 loss in the semi-final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which also happened in the absence of Neymar.

Even as the national coach Tite named a few newcomers in the squad, he will want his mainstays in Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino, Willian, Casemiro and Marcelo to show their metal.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba trains 'a little bit' ahead of Sevilla
The Portuguese had stated then that it is high time that Old Trafford experienced a big Champions League night. Pogba has returned to training after missing Saturday's 2-1 Premier League victory over Liverpool .

However, full-back Sandro was overlooked for this month's matches against World Cup host Russian Federation and reigning champion Germany, which Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar will miss as he recovers from a broken foot.

In what was the coach's final squad before settling on his 23-man group for this year's World Cup, Valencia goalkeeper Neto, Besiktas star Anderson Talisca and Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose have joined the Selecao.

Also selected for a possible debut is Anderson Talisca, who plays for Turkish club Besiktas. These will be Brazil's last friendlies until the provisional World Cup squad is selected in May.
