Let us not forget why Microsoft chose to build out Teams, it was because of the success of Slack which makes you wonder if buying the competing software would have been a better move?

But now over 200,000 businesses are currently using Teams, including the likes of General Motors, A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Nascar.

Microsoft announced its group collaboration platform Teams nearly a year and a half ago, but it was made generally available at this time last year. Microsoft also announced several new AI-powered features for Teams that are not available on any of its main competitors.

Adds host of new features, including direct routing to SIP trunks, and expanded hardware support. Microsoft hasn't released DAU info for Teams.

Former Titans RB DeMarco Murray has meeting with Lions
The Lions struggled to find consistency in the backfield last season, ranking last in the league with 1,221 rushing yards. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday night that Murray is set to visit with the Detroit Lions on Monday.

"Over the past year, Teams has evolved to become the ultimate hub for teamwork", said Redmond. Cortana integration is coming to Microsoft Teams soon, with support for voice interactions through Team-enabled devices like IP phones and conference room devices.

First off is cloud recording, which will provide "one-click meeting recordings with automatic transcription and timecoding, enabling all team members the ability to read captions, search within the conversation, and playback all or part of the meeting". To help participants see you more clearly, the system will blur out a distracting background, putting the focus of the video on you rather than any clutter behind. In the future, it will also include facial recognition, so remarks can be attributed to specific meeting attendees.

The cloud meeting recordings capability will be available this summer, with the other features and functionalities to follow later this year, Wright said. Finally, you'll be able to discover and add nearby Skype Room System devices to your meeting. The company shared today Teams will pick up consultative transfer and call delegation and federation features. The last addition is mobile sharing in meetings, so meeting attendees can share a live video stream, photos, or the screen from their mobile device.

The Redmond giant is announcing a slew of new features to be added to Teams, all aimed at making it an attractive option to replace traditional office phones.
