Prospective date for Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua confirmed by Eddie Hearn

10 March 2018

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder remain on collision course to decide the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world after Eddie Hearn indicated a bout between the pair is pencilled in for 2018.

Instead, it is likely that Joshua would have to travel to America to fight Wilder if he is successful in Cardiff.

Joshua must first progress past Joseph Parker in a world title unification fight on March 31, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

In a TV interview that will be aired in the United Kingdom this weekend, WBO title holder Parker shows plenty of poise in what is a close quarters face-off with WBA and IBF champion Joshua.

The interview was hosted by former British cruiserweight Johnny Nelson with Parker and Joshua sitting less than a metre apart across a table.

"They don't want to make the fight yet".

Joseph Parker has said he will agree to a rematch with Anthony Joshua should he beat the Briton in Cardiff on March 31.

Nelson asks Parker to describe how the fight will play out.

He sees Wilder as a very straight forward fighter.

Joshua interjects: "I'm going to meet you head on".

"This is different though".

"The heavyweight division is buzzing right now and we have two very important fights coming up in Dillian Whyte v Lucas Browne on March 24 at the O2 and Jarrell Miller v Johann Duhaupas on April 28 in NY". Hearn told me. "One over there, one here".

The 32-year-old American said: "I'm ready right now".

"But this is the time to let the world know who you are, how great you are and it doesn't matter what he said about me, I just think you have to tell the world that you are the best because they are listening and this is history now".

The two minute clip leaked on boxingforum24 picks up on the controversial approach by Team Parker to call out Joshua over his alleged glass chin, a tactic that irked the WBA and IBF champion.

Parker is now in camp with trainer Kevin Barry at their Las Vegas base, with the pair scheduled to arrive in London two weeks before the fight to be staged in front of a capacity crowd of 80,000 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
