Trump denies "shithole countries" comments

The scandal erupted after Donald Trump wondered why the United States would want to have immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African nations, referring to some as "shithole countries", and suggested America should welcome more people from nations like Norway instead. Haiti and the other countries involved in this discussion are generally poor, underdeveloped and plagued with challenges that make life hard. On Friday the president tweeted that his language was "tough" but insisted he did not say anything derogatory about Haitians aside from noting it's a poor country.
