Strongly condemning the PDP lawmaker's statement, Pradesh Bhartiya Janata Party demanded lodging of FIR against the Mir.
"Terrorists, who are from Kashmir are martyrs".
Days earlier, the party's chief spokesperson, Rafi Ahmad Mir, had expressed regret over the deaths of militants and said there was nothing wrong if party leaders met the families of the slain rebels to offer condolences. They are our children.
"Militants who are from Kashmir are martyrs, they are our brothers, some of them are minors who don't even know what they are doing", Aijaz Ahmed Mir, who represents Wachi constituency located in Shopian district of south Kashmir said. "How can they be someone's brother?"
"I feel how long should it continue?" We should not glorify the killing of terrorists. This vicious circle will continue like this. Whatever we (J&K) have to get, we will get from this country (India).
Mir also cautioned against glorifying the killing of militants. The PDP leader, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, further termed it as a "collective failure".
"There can be ideological clashes between them and us".

While Minister of State for Transport and BJP MLA Sunil Sharma said that no one can describe a slain militant as "martyr". "It is a difference of ideology".
He said, "Be that militant, or any one, they are Kashmiris, they are our brothers".
In a statement, Sethi said such "utterances by the PDP MLA are absolutely intolerable and nobody in the political mainstream can be given liberty to cross line of nationalism".
The Congress questioned the BJP whether it agrees with what the legislator belonging to its alliance partner in Jammu and Kashmir has said and asked it to come clean on the issue.
"It is the PDP MLA who has said this". The PDP is in alliance with the BJP (in Jammu and Kashmir).
