Clive Lewis returns to Labour frontbench in Treasury role

13 January 2018

Labour MP Clive Lewis has been reappointed to the party's front bench as a shadow Treasury minister.

Specifically, the Derby North MP - who until yesterday was shadow minister for fire and emergency services - says council tax could be frozen in Bands A to C, with increases of 20 per cent, 40 per cent, 60 per cent, 80 per cent and 100 per cent applied to the higher bands.

In August previous year, Ms Pidcock told left-wing site Skwawkbox that she had a "visceral" dislike of Conservatives and was "disgusted at the way they're running this country".

Mr Corbyn said: "I am pleased to make these appointments to strengthenLabour's frontbench team, which is now a government in waiting".

A staunch ally of Jeremy Corbyn who quit the opposition frontbench this week, "should have been sacked long ago" for his remarks about anti-Semitism according to a colleague.

UFC 221: Robert Whittaker issues statement on withdrawal from Luke Rockhold bout
Romero will fight for an interim strap with the victor facing Whittaker in a unification bout later in 2018. The new main event at UFC 221 will still have championship gold resting in the balance as Rockhold vs.

Labour's announcement did not confirm the reasons for Mr Williamson's departure.

But the shadow communities secretary, Andrew Gwynne, was forced to issue a statement repudiating comments about increasing council tax he had made in an interview to the Huffington Post website, and that were immediately seized on by the Conservatives.

Labour leader Corbyn praised the MP for his work, particularly relating to the Grenfell Tower disaster. This is not Labour party policy, it's an idea I came up with at a local level and it's got a little bit of traction in other parts of the country.

None of the new appointments are at shadow cabinet level, where Corbyn has retainedthose on the left of the party who stepped into vacant roles when scores of MPs resigned in the wake of 2016's European Union referendum.

Mr Lewis was last month cleared of claims he groped a woman after the party's sexual harassment panel found insufficient evidence to proceed with a case against him.
