Kevin Gates is a free man, after being released from prison on Wednesday (Jan. 10), reports TMZ. The release of Gates is via parole.
As has been previously mentioned in the coverage leading up to Gates' release, he's out on parole and under mandatory supervision for the time being.
The 31-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana came to prominence in 2013, and his studio album "Isiah" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016.
Gates previously spent time in prison after he was convicted of kicking a female fan during a performance in Florida.

Fans of the rapper immediately took to Twitter to express their excitement about his release from prison. Gates served 9 months of a 30-month sentence.
The Baton Rouge rapper served nine months of a 30-month sentence for a weapons-related warrant in an IL state prison.
