Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo: Reporter's question a 'disservice' to women

14 December 2017

"That means more transparency, openness and accountability-all things we could use more of in NY".

The FBI is investigating Cuomo's administration for its practice of hiring political appointees to work in the Executive Chamber while paying the employees through state agencies to avoid inflating the Executive Chamber budget. "We are accustomed to that". Shortly afterward, his office released an updated schedule showing rapid-fire afternoon television appearances to discuss the blast, including interviews on MSNBC and CNN.

"This year will be remembered as the year of reckoning, when both the tragedy of mass shootings and cultural and institutional harassment of women became impossible to ignore", Cuomo said.

Cuomo, who has been noted as a possible 2020 presidential contender, did not directly answer the question.

In a subsequent conference call with reporters, the governor sought to clarify his earlier remarks, saying he meant to flip the question around to focus on what the state plans to do about harassment in all realms.

The first thing he touched on was the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe looking into the governor's office's hiring practices.

It's not what he's been known for across 15 years as the head man in Cincinnati. "You have to make those contested catches". That's why he thinks it will be what he calls "a tough game". "Mike and I have been friends since 1982 or '83".

Following the attempted terror attack that unfolded on Monday morning at Port Authority, where a 27-year-old suspect detonated a pipe bomb, Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered the lights of One World Trade Center's spire to be lit red, white, and blue this evening.

That news came exactly one month before jury selection is to begin in the trial of Joseph Percoco, Cuomo's former campaign manager and right-hand man. Percoco stands accused of soliciting bribes from Cuomo donors in exchange for government action.

Cuomo previously vetoed a similar bill in 2015 because of concerns that included an objection to the state Legislature exempting itself from some provisions of the Freedom of Information Law.

There was Democratic New York State Assemblyman Vito Lopez, who resigned in 2013 over former aides' allegations of sexual harassment. To achieve lopsided victories in the 2018 primary and general elections-vital to keeping his presidential prospects alive-the governor will need to ride a wave of anti-GOP outrage focused on President Donald Trump and the tax bill.

But, the NY governor has had a very rocky year.
