Taika Waititi offered Star Wars movie

08 December 2017

Would you like to see Waititi helm a Star Wars film?

Producer and Lucas Films president Kathleen Kennedy says she'd love Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi to lend his talents to the next Star Wars movie. When asked if Waititi should direct a Star wars movie, Kennedy said that she would love him to helm a Star Wars movie.

Since the boss herself has offered a job to direct the Star Wars movie, Taika Waititi might want to reconsider. Kennedy then added, "I think he has exactly the right sensibility".

The Thor Ragnarok and Hunt for the Wilderpeople director Waititi has previously expressed doubt that he'd be the right fit for the Star Wars franchise, telling the New York Times: "There's not much room [in the franchise] for someone like me". "Very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an fantastic job with Thor". The Star Wars films have a high turnover rate.

Palestinians say they won't meet with Pence
Rajoub also signalled that Abbas would not meet with Pence during his planned visit later this month. President Donald Trump's announcement that he was recognizing the city as Israel's capital.

What makes this a little more interesting is that, after saying on Twitter that he wouldn't do a Star Wars film, Waititi clarified to Uproxx that he was only kidding.

Waititi's comments apparently made their way back to Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, because she'd like to throw a potential movie his way anyway.

Waititi is obviously referring to several tumultuous behind-the-scenes events of various recent Star Wars films, like the rumors that Gareth Edwards was essentially removed from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story so that Tony Gilroy could handle reshoots, the firing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller from Solo: A Star Wars Story, the firing of Fantastic Four director Josh Trank from another Star Wars Anthology film, and Colin Trevorrow departing Star Wars: Episode IX. "I'm not an idiot". Meanwhile at Marvel, the latest director to venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was Taika Waititi. Not only has Thor: Ragnarok raked in stellar reviews and a box office gross of $819 million in under five weeks, but it seems like Lucasfilm would love to offer the filmmaker a place in the Star Wars franchise. Well, guess who else likes improv - Waititi.
