RK Nagar nomination rejected, Vishal mourns 'death of democracy'

08 December 2017

After heated arguments and storming out of his office, Vishal alleged that the RO told him that he "accepted my nomination only because I threatened". "God save my beloved country from this anarchy!" After the EC's directive, Vishal had tweeted: "Just received info thru media that I have to produce the 2 people who supposedly alleged that their signature in my nomination for RK Nagar Election has been forged, in front of the Election Commission before 3 PM today".

The actor met chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni at the secretariat and submitted a petition, address to the state election commissioner, on what happened on Tuesday.

The family also refrained from commenting on the matter of forged signatures. "Whether I Win or Lose, Democracy truly Lost!" But then it got even more ludicrous. "The fact that I am seen as such a threat to the status quo is very flattering. And that's frightening", he added. Yesterday, he had tweeted President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining that his nomination for the December 21 by-election was "first accepted and later rejected".

Actor Vishal, whose nomination to contest in the R K Nagar bypoll was rejected by the election commission, has claimed that two people who proposed his nomination are missing.

"My nomination was accepted & later rejected".

Vishal was upset by the development and tweeted, "Democracy at its lowest low! Totally unfair. I bring this to your notice & I hope justice prevails", tweeted Vishal to the Twitter handles of the PM and Rashtrapati Bhavan.

China exports jumped in November as import gains signal strength
Despite the overall strength of the November data, imports could come under pressure as China's economy cools, analysts say. Crude oil demand also increased, lifting to 37.04 million tonnes from 31.03 million tonnes a month earlier.

The RK Nagar assembly seat is vacant since the death of J Jayalalithaa.

According to Vishal, the Returning Officer would get up from his seat and go out to speak to somebody on the phone.

"As time passes by, Dheepan and Sumathi, who proposed my nomination are not traceable". I will take this up with the Election Commission. A total of 145 people filed their nomination papers of which 72 nominations have been accepted, while 73 have been rejected.

Mr. Vishal arrived at the office of Returning Officer Velusamy barely a couple of hours before the deadline for the withdrawal of nominations ended on Thursday afternoon and pleaded for a review.

The major contest will be between the ruling AIADMK (E Madhusudhanan), DMK (N Marudhu Ganesh) and the side lined AIADMK leader T T V Dinakaran, now contesting as an independent candidate.
