Kate Winslet Says Woody Allen Really Gets Women

Farrow was seven when, according to her accounts, Allen got her alone in the attic and sexually assaulted her.

"Why", Farrow asked, "is it that Harvey Weinstein and other accused celebrities have been cast out by Hollywood, while Allen recently secured a multimillion-dollar distribution deal with Amazon, greenlit by former Amazon Studios executive Roy Price before he was suspended over sexual misconduct allegations?" "The things making me uncomfortable were making me think I was a bad kid, because I didn't want to do what my elder told me to do". However, she called Allen "an incredible director" in an interview with The New York Times from September.

Hollywood is in the middle of the movement, and while it continues to topple powerful men, at least one has thus far proved immune: Woody Allen.

"It is a testament to Allen's public relations team and his lawyers that few know these simple facts", Farrow wrote in the Times.

"We are in the midst of a revolution", Farrow begins her op-ed, noting how many women have bravely spoken up about harassment and incidents of misconduct they've experienced and the consequences their abusers have faced. "I could [only] know my experience". (Allen has long denied Farrow's claims of abuse.) In her piece Farrow names Kate Winslet, Blake Lively, and Greta Gerwig, specifically, for speaking out amid the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, but not condemning Allen despite Farrow's claims that he abused her when she was a child.

Fernandez and her late husband, Nestor Kirchner, dominated Argentinian politics for more than a decade starting 2003, with Mr. She has previously called the case an "absurdity" and part of a campaign to undermine her presidency.

Farrow notes, "Although the culture seems to be shifting rapidly, my allegation is apparently still just too complicated, too hard, too 'dangerous, ' to use Lively's term, to confront". She also said that comments from her brother Moses that Mia Farrow manipulated her daughter into testifying about Allen's actions are "devastating, but like so numerous attacks on my story, irrelevant: Moses was not there for the alleged assault". "I remember what I was wearing and what I wasn't wearing", Farrow told Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth in 2013. She writes that "it breaks my heart" when men and women dodge or don't fully answer questions about working with the director.

In her piece, Farrow wonders why Allen has been able to escape the fate of other men in Hollywood who have been accused of misconduct.

In the op-ed, Farrow draws parallels between Allen and Weinstein in how they reportedly responded to the allegations. Farrow also linked to the 1993 legal document on the matter, in which a judge denied Allen custody of Farrow, and noted how some publications have reported that the allegations were part of a custody dispute, which she says was not initiated until after the investigation into Allen's abuse of Farrow began.

"The system worked for Harvey Weinstein for decades", Farrow says.

The idea of Allen as this empowering hero to women is a common one among actresses who work with him.
