Nassar Faces Federal Child Porn Sentencing

Instead, McKayla and her mother Erin Maroney chose to testify in the form of letters, which have been made public, addressed to the federal judge presiding the case, ESPN reports.

Former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on child pornography charges that he admitted.

The letter was obtained by ESPN's Outside the Lines programme.

Maroney and her mother, vocal critics of the USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee, also slammed rules that bar parents from the team training camps.

"Dr. Nassar told me that I was receiving 'medically necessary treatment that he had been performing on patients for over 30 years, '" Maroney said in a victim statement to Neff. It provides a heartbreaking glimpse into the emotional distress the Maroney family has dealt with because of Nassar's alleged abuse.

Erin wrote that she and her husband were not allowed to stay with McKayla when she was travelling overseas, sometimes not even in the same hotel. "She has transformed from a bubbly, positive, loving, world class athlete into a young adult who was deeply depressed, at times suicidal. At times, I was unsure whether I would open her bedroom door and find her dead". She is one of three members of that team and about 140 women total to lodge accusations that Nassar abused them under the guise of medical treatments. McKayla wrote that Nassar had given her a sleeping pill for the flight and the next thing she knew, she was alone with him getting treatment.

"It happened in London before my team and I won the gold medal, and it happened before I won my silver medal", Maroney wrote. She was only 15 years old.

The consumer goods maker reported $1.31 earnings per share for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $1.50 by ($0.19). Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co. lifted its stake in shares of Anheuser Busch Inbev by 6.0% in the 2nd quarter.

"She said to me, 'Mom I thought I was going to die.'" I can not tell you the anguish her Dad and I feel over this, and the responsibility we feel for not being aware of this, or being able to stop it". She wrote that she and McKayla's father "were not allowed to stay with McKayla" while traveling and "sometimes we were not even in the same hotel".

Federal prosecutors are seeking a 60-year sentence.

Maroney wants more than that for the guy who seemingly ruined her life. He could be sentenced up to life in prison for the sexual assault charges.

"He abused my trust, he abused my body and he left scars on my psyche that may never go away ..."

THE face of America's gold medal-winning gymnastic team at the London Olympics has revealed graphic new details of the abuse she suffered at the hands of a team doctor. Several Olympic gymnasts, including Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas, also said during television interviews or on social media that he assaulted them.

Neff handed the 54-year-old former doctor the maximum sentence on three child pornography charges, receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography and destruction and concealment of records.??Nassar had pleaded guilty to those charges in July. Later reports by the State Journal identified similar shortcomings at MSU: Between 1997 and 2015, at least seven women or girls say they raised concerns about Nassar's actions to coaches, trainers, police or university officials.

Nassar worked at Michigan State University and at USA Gymnastics, the Indianapolis-based group that trains Olympians.
