Fellow porn stars say August Ames' death is related to cyberbullying

07 December 2017

Adult film actress August Ames was found dead on Tuesday, according to police in southern California. She earned a nomination in 2015 for AVN Best New Starlet, and was a nominee every year since for Female Performer of the Year, including in the current race for the upcoming 2018 AVN Awards. Her death was confirmed by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office but the cause of death has not been revealed yet.

Kevin Moore, the deceased's husband, told AVN that Ames was "the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me". "Please leave this as a private family matter in this hard time".

Shortly after her death had been confirmed, an outpouring of condolence from friends and industry peers filled up Ames's Twitter page, many describing her as a kind person with a big heart.

Several websites, including ours, covered her tweet, and several gay porn stars publicly criticized Ames for spreading homophobia and ignorance about how testing in the adult film industry works.

August Ames has appeared in more than 270 adult films and worked with all major studios.

Various tweeters have begun blaming the gay media for her death, even going so far as to imply that she may have committed suicide over the negative media attention following her tweets.

Big Second Half Leads Pelicans Past Nuggets
Replays did not show obvious contact, and officials chose to uphold their original call that Plumlee committed a foul. The Nuggets made 16 3-pointers in the game, but just six in the second half, after nailing 10 in the first half.

"Omg, I can't believe she's dead", Albrite tweeted.

Her final tweet was posted at midnight on December 5 in which she wrote "fuck y'all". She also said that she didn't want to put "my body at risk". What the f-- ever!

Ames's death has since raised disconcert with the nature of the adult entertainment industry, of its demands and expectations of performers, with some remarking that the entertainer's death was a tragic and ironic one, having risen to great heights in the industry, but ultimately overwhelmed and negated by the nature of her work and status as a star adult entertainer.

Before taking her own life, she was slammed on Twitter for posting about a film shoot which she chose to cancel on.

Ames' death spurred a Twitter conversation among people in the porn industry about cyberbullying and porn actors' rights to choose who they work with.

Producer/director Jules Jordan added: "Rest In Peace to August Ames, one of the best, nicest people I ever knew in the business".
