Dying Light Reveals Standalone Multiplayer Expansion: Bad Blood

07 December 2017

"Our aim is both to satisfy players' demands for competitive PvP gameplay and to explore new directions for Dying Light's multiplayer experience", said Tymon Smektala, Producer at Techland, in the press release. This is just the latest game to follow the battle royale craze after PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' enormous success and Fortnite's own battle royale mode.

The big difference between the likes of PUBG and Bad Blood, however, is Bad Blood is only for six players, and it blends PvP with PvE. "Bad Blood offers intense and dynamically changing online matches that creatively blend the distinction between PvP and PvE style of gameplay, while retaining the core of what made Dying Light and global success". Dying Light had co-op multiplayer, and even a Left 4 Dead-inspired mode where players could control powerful zombies in other players' worlds, but the core of battle royale is players killing players. Each of you has the same goal: "to evacuate before the night falls", says the official website.

Bad Blood will offer "violent and dynamic" online matches, and wants PC players to help test the expansion out online. It was not revealed if this expansion would make its way to consoles.

National Football League may add video reviews for targeting
Bobby Wagner does not want to see the NFL adopt a targeting rule along the lines of what has been implemented in college football. The college rule includes a player being ejected from a game should officials deem that he in fact targeted an opposing player.

While Dying Light: Bad Blood is slated to launch sometime in 2018, the developer will be hosting a global playtest before the full launch to gather community feedback.

The only way out is the extraction chopper, but nobody rides for free, apparently. But if someone does not have enough blood samples to pay for their seat, they can also steal samples from other players, which is where the PvP part of the expansion comes in.

This gameplay element results in a "cruel set-up" betrayal, because the more samples the players harvest collectively, the more seats are unlocked.
