Hue Jackson explains why he changed his stance on Josh Gordon

23 November 2017

Gordon hasn't played since the 15th game of 2014.

Even though Gordon has been out of football for almost three years he's only 26, and won't turn 27 until next April. I think what is best for our football team is that we move forward and move on. I might miss some of these meetings talking to you guys working up things for him (laughter). I had to first educate myself and what he was going through and what he was dealing with. Gordon hasn't played in a regular season game since December 21, 2014.

"It's like Christmas", Jackson said of Gordon on Monday, per Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.

"This guy, he's different", Browns head coach Hue Jackson said. "I just want to see how good it is". Luke Del Rio is a fifth-year senior who had been granted a sixth year of eligibility, but said he has "enjoyed my unique college career and am excited for what's next". The 26-year old receiver out of Baylor was allowed to be involved in team meetings over the last two weeks, and per the timeline mandated by the commissioner was eligible to practice for the first time today. "You can kind of tell that he's just mentally refreshed nearly". Jackson followed up his comments by saying, "Once I understood it better and watched him earn the right to be back in this building - again, I was able to monitor, was not able to talk to him but was able to monitor what he was doing and understood what he was going through; I felt more comfortable of understanding what was going on".

Search teams, helicopter scour rugged Coquitlam area for missing dogwalker
Dozens of videos show groups of three or more dogs on hikes during all seasons with Poitras on trails in the Coquitlam area. Coquitlam RCMP said that anyone with any knowledge of Poitras' whereabouts are asked to call 911 immediately.

One of the league's most dynamic players before alcohol and marijuana use knocked his career off-path, Gordon was conditionally reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this month after being suspended numerous times for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Unlike previous reinstatements, Gordon returned to the Browns in tremendous physical condition, which Jackson believes will make him an instant contributor.

Gordon returned to the Browns on November 7 and he is eligible to be activated next Monday and play Sunday, Dec. 3 at Los Angeles against the Chargers.

Gordon caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013. And we did. So I was (done) based on what the situation was at that time. "There are a lot of things he's still got to continue to do, and work through and I think he's willing to do that". He still has to earn that from his teammates, from the coaches and from the fans and from you. "He is in a lot better place now and a lot better place to have people assist him through this process".
