That's why the former middleweight champion didn't blink when the opportunity arose to step in on short notice to face Kelvin Gastelum in the main event at UFC Fight Night in China in less that two weeks time.

"I can't see how I cannot take this fight", Bisping said "I'm serious because the homework is done".

The Ultimate Fighter Season 3 victor is eyeing the UFC's London card, next March, for his swansong. "I would love to be on that".

"Again, I have nothing against China, they are a lovely race of people".

"I definitely want my last fight to be in England".

'That's why I want to fight Kelvin because I know I can do better than last week.

So, provided Bisping emerges from his scrap with Gastelum healthy, win or lose, it looks like the 38 year-old's career could wrap up in just four months time.

The best part about this fight with Gastelum is that it's just for Bisping to go out and enjoy himself without any of the pressure of promoting the card or spending another 10 weeks in training camp to get ready. "Mentally, I'm very frustrated". "I've always wanted my last fight to be in England".

Bisping was humble, gracious and pragmatic following his loss to Georges St-Pierre and shunned retirement in favor of at least one more bout.

With one foot out of the door, Bisping is already looking at his mixed martial arts career with pride.

"I didn't fight to the full of my potential last week".

Bisping has been fighting in the UFC since winning the third season of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series back in 2006. "That's kind of bothering me", Bisping said. This one came out of the blue so I guess I'm going to do one extra. I feel good, I'm in good shape, I've got no injuries, so why not?

'That wasn't the plan, but circumstances have put me in this situation'.
