The IMx, which is making its debut at the 2017 Tokyo auto show, adheres to the ongoing industry themes of autonomy and electrification, offering a glimpse into Nissan's future in the form of an all-electric crossover SUV package.

They even do a little dance at the end to celebrate their accomplishment in creating what looks to be Nissan's next electric vehicle, a CUV/SUV.

. It's the star of the company's stand at this year's bustling Tokyo motor show.

The non-road-going concept also sports a future version of Nissan's "ProPILOT" technology suite that (apparently) offers fully autonomous operation (Level 5) when the requisite hand-over driving mode is selected.

It is expected to be a sibling auto to the new Leaf 2018, sharing the same platform as it.

With ProPilot switched on, the concept's steering wheel actually folds away and, amusingly, reclines all of the seats so the passengers can stare out of the full-length sunroof.

Power comes from two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, for a total of 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

While Nissan hasn't spelled out how big of a battery the IMx packs, the company says it provides for 600 kilometers of range - 372 miles - on Japan's (comparatively lenient) JC08 test cycle.

Most key data is shown on a panoramic OLED instrument panel, while a separate wood grain-patterned display positioned below the instrument panel and wrapping around the interior door trims, gives occupants a sense of the outside like a paper screen might.

The IMx sits on Nissan's new electric vehicle platform, which has been designed for zero-emission driving from the ground up - one advantage of this is a flat floor, which increases cabin space.
