In 1990, at least four air force officers were killed by Yasin Malik, one of the top members of the militant group, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). "The slain Airforce personnel were operating with the Army for operational experience and training in that area", Defense spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia told Anadolu Agency.

Hajin town of Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir is observing a complete shutdown today on Thursday to mourn the killing of two LeT militants in a gunfight with forces on Wednesday.

The soldiers, as well as the militants, were killed after the security forces launched a cordon search operation in the Hajin area of Bandipora district after being informed of the presence of terrorists in the area, early on Wednesday, he said.

The terrorists are reportedly associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
