Duterte pulls police off drugs crackdown

12 October 2017

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday destroyed a total of PHP10.67 million worth of controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs), together with laboratory equipment intended for the production of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

Duterte, who easily won the race to Malacañang a year ago on a brutal law-and-order platform, has stoked worldwide alarm for activating his fierce anti-drug campaign.

The memorandum also comes on the heels of Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa calling out critics of the drug war for being ingrates.

"I want, as a last word, maybe this would suffice for the stupid European Union guys".

"The EU and the Philippines work constructively and productively together in a close partnership in many contexts and areas, including, of course, in the United Nations context", the statement said.

The European Union delegation in Manila issued a statement clarifying it had no involvement in the visit by the Progressive Alliance.

Abella said the street level distribution networks of the "drug lords" had been degraded due to successful police operations in the 15-month old campaign.

This will also be the second time that President Duterte ordered the PNP to stop all anti-drug operations nationwide. Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said the new aim was for PDEA to target "higher echelons of the syndicates, as well as their protectors in government".

Southwest has typically driven down airfares on the routes it flies, in what is known as the "Southwest Effect ". The airline made the announcement during a company gathering in Southern California.

Since the crackdown, more than 1,300,000 suspects have surrendered and at least 113,900 arrests have been made, the Phillipine police said.

Duterte accused the European Union of interfering in the Philippines' domestic affairs, and alleged it wanted to get the Philippines expelled from the UN.

He dared them to cut ties with the Philippines and have their ambassadors leave within 24 hours.

Lorenzana said the Philippines is looking forward to conducting joint military exercises with Russian Federation.

"Just like that you tell us: "You will be excluded in the UN". Don't [email protected]*k with us".

Duterte's spokesman was unavailable to comment on why the president believed the European Union was looking to remove the Philippines from the UN.

Duterte, in a memorandum signed on October 10, tasked the PDEA to conduct anti-illegal drug operations "against all those who directly or indirectly, and in whatever manner or capacity, are involved in or connected with illegal drugs". "If the crime is being committed in our presence and we have personal knowledge that a crime is being committed or is about to be committed we will effect the arrest", Madrid said.

"We will target the source, the so-called big fish". So better for the bleeding hearts and media.
